IAA Transportation is the world's leading trade fair for commercial vehicles, logistics and the transport sector, held every two years in Hannover and organized by the VDA (German Association of the Automotive Industry). Formerly known as IAA Commercial Vehicles, it covers trucks, vans, buses and trailers alongside logistics technology, telematics, charging and refueling infrastructure, and the software and services that run modern fleets.
The 2026 edition ran September 15-20, preceded by a press day on September 14, and closed with 1,589 exhibitors from 46 countries - the most countries the show has represented - and more than 140,000 visitors, of whom more than 113,000 were industry professionals attending on weekdays. That is fewer exhibiting companies than the nearly 1,700 of 2024 and a smaller total gate than that year's roughly 145,000, but a slightly larger weekday trade audience: the record here is one of international breadth rather than scale. International attendees made up a record 40 percent of trade visitors, with the Netherlands, China and Poland most strongly represented, while China, Turkey and Italy had the strongest presence among international exhibitors.
Exhibitors presented more than 150 world premieres and new products, and the show logged 8,500 test drives across 84 vehicles from 17 exhibitors, up from 60 vehicles in 2024. The commercial profile is what makes the floor unusual for a show of this size: 77 percent of trade visitors influence purchasing and procurement decisions at their companies, up from 71 percent in 2024, 52 percent plan to invest in commercial vehicles within six to 12 months, and visitor satisfaction ran at 92 percent.

The dominant themes were battery-electric long-haul, hydrogen and megawatt charging: Daimler Truck, MAN Truck & Bus and Scania joined the operator Milence to demonstrate interoperable Megawatt Charging System charging, reaching 80 percent or full charge within the legally mandated 30 to 45 minute driver rest break.

Volvo Trucks won International Truck of the Year 2027 for its new electric FH, FM, FMX and FH Aero Electric range. ZF won the Truck Innovation Award 2027 for TraXon Hybrid, and Renault won International Van of the Year 2027 with the fourth-generation Trafic E-Tech Electric. The International Trailer Award 2027 went to Schmitz Cargobull, Kögel, Kässbohrer, Krone and Koluman across five categories.
