InnoTrans is the world's largest trade fair for rail transport technology, held every two years at Messe Berlin. The 2026 edition, the 15th and the fair's 30th anniversary, ran September 22-25. It covers five segments - Railway Technology, Railway Infrastructure, Public Transport, Interiors and Tunnel Construction - and is best known for its outdoor track display, where manufacturers exhibit full-size locomotives, multiple units, trams and maintenance vehicles on live rail sidings alongside the halls.
InnoTrans 2026 set new records. According to Messe Berlin's preliminary closing figures, about 175,000 trade visitors from more than 120 countries attended, over 5,000 more than the 169,214 of 2024, and 3,190 exhibitors from 59 countries, 750 of them exhibiting for the first time, filled all 42 halls and the fully booked 200,000-square-metre grounds. The edition featured 180 world premieres, down from 226 in 2024, and 113 vehicles from 17 countries on the outdoor and track areas, down from 133. AI, digitalization and new propulsion concepts dominated the program, which added the first "AI on Track" hackathon and an AI Mobility Lab.
Because the show already fills the entire Berlin site, growth now has to come from elsewhere: Messe Berlin is launching InnoTrans Asia, a separate event at Singapore EXPO on September 7-9, 2027, in the year between Berlin editions. The next Berlin InnoTrans is expected in 2028; Messe Berlin had not confirmed exact dates in its 2026 closing release.
