Electronica 2026: The Complete Guide to Dates, Tickets, Halls & What to Expect

Electronica 2026 runs from Tuesday 10 to Friday 13 November 2026 at Messe München in Munich, Germany. It is the world's leading trade fair for electronic components, systems and applications, held every two years since 1964, and it fills all 18 halls of the fairground - 192,000 square metres. Halls open 09:00-18:00 from Tuesday to Thursday and 09:00-15:00 on the Friday.

Tickets are paid and start at EUR 48 for one day online, rising to EUR 109 for all four days, with a roughly 36 to 38 percent penalty for buying at the door. One ticket also admits you to SEMICON Europa, which runs alongside in four of the same halls. The two main free routes for ordinary visitors are an exhibitor voucher, or the free ticket for pupils, students, apprentices and trainees that is valid on Friday 13 November only.

One rule catches people out every edition: your visitor ticket will not open the turnstiles a second time. Leave the fairground and you are out for the day.

1. What Is Electronica?

Electronica is where the electronics industry meets its own supply chain. It is not a consumer show and it is not a launch stage for finished products the way IFA Berlin is. It is the fair where the components inside everything else get specified, sourced and designed in - semiconductors, passives, connectors, sensors, power supplies, embedded boards, the printed circuit boards they sit on and the contract manufacturers who assemble them.

Messe München has run it since 1964, every two years, and the organiser's framing for 2026 is the "All Electric Society": the argument that electrification and electronics are now the common layer under mobility, energy, industry and healthcare, and that the industries building on that layer should be talking to each other rather than meeting separately.

Three focus topics carry the 2026 edition:

• Artificial intelligence - both AI as a product category and AI as a design input, from edge inference silicon to the tooling used to develop complex systems.
• Cyber resilience - driven hard in Europe by the Cyber Resilience Act, which introduces lifecycle security and vulnerability-handling requirements for products with digital elements and raises expectations across the component, firmware and finished-device supply chain. The organiser puts the implementation deadline at 2027, which makes this the last electronica before it lands.
• Energy efficiency - the component-level side of the electrification argument, from wide-bandgap power semiconductors to standby draw.

Where 2026 sits

Because electronica is biennial, the 2026 edition is the first since November 2024. Two years is a long gap in this industry, and it is the main reason the show behaves differently from an annual fair: exhibitors save announcements for it, and the gap between editions is wide enough that the roadmap on display genuinely moves rather than iterating.

If you track the German industrial circuit, electronica sits at the end of a long 2026 run that also included Hannover Messe in April, Automechanika Frankfurt and IAA Transportation in September, and InnoTrans later the same month. Electronica is the components fair that feeds all four.

The next edition after this one is electronica 2028, 14-17 November 2028, also at Messe München. If you miss 2026, that is the wait.

2. Electronica 2026 Dates & Daily Schedule

The Friday is a half day. Halls shut at 15:00, three hours earlier than the rest of the week, and dismantling starts the moment the show closes. If your reason for going is meetings rather than walking the floor, Friday afternoon does not exist as planning time.

SEMICON Europa keeps identical hours.

The re-entry rule, which is stricter than most fairs

Messe München states it plainly: "Please keep in mind that your visitor ticket does not allow you to reenter the fair and will not open the turnstiles a second time if you leave the fair!"

Take that at face value when you plan a day. An off-site lunch, a hotel run to swap a laptop, a walk to a nearby office - any of those can end your day. Plan to stay inside from the moment you badge in, and note that the fairground has catering and cloakrooms precisely because of this.

One thing the organiser does not spell out: how the rule interacts with multi-day tickets, which by definition must open the turnstiles on more than one day. The sensible reading is that the restriction is per day, not per ticket, and the ticket FAQ separately confirms that multi-day tickets do not have to be used on consecutive days. If you are relying on same-day re-entry for a specific reason, confirm it with the visitor hotline (+49 89 949-11458) rather than assuming.

The day before

The electronica Automotive Conference runs on Monday 9 November 2026, the day before the halls open, at the ICM International Congress Center on the fairground. It is a separate paid event with its own ticket. See section 7.

3. Tickets & Registration

Electronica is a paid, professional show. There is no free public tier, and no general on-site walk-up discount.

The price ladder

All prices include 19% VAT and are per person. Unlike many fairs, there is no early-bird calendar here: the discount is for buying online rather than for buying early, so there is no deadline to miss on the main tickets. The one date that does bite is the free ticket for pupils, students, apprentices and trainees, where online ordering closes on 5 November 2026.

Work out your ticket from the days you will actually attend, because the ladder is not linear. The four-day ticket at EUR 109 is only EUR 13 more than two separate one-day tickets, so if there is any chance you stay a third day it is the better buy, and it removes the need to commit to specific days in advance. If you are confident about a two-day visit, the two-day ticket saves you EUR 28 and is the rational choice. The one-day ticket only makes sense if a single day is genuinely fixed.

What the ticket does and does not include

It does include SEMICON Europa. Tickets for electronica are also valid for the parallel SEMICON Europa, which occupies Halls B0, B1, C1 and C2. This is a real benefit and easy to miss - you are effectively buying two shows.

It does not include public transport. This is the trap for anyone used to German trade fairs, most of which bundle local travel into the badge. Messe München states it directly: "The Print@home Ticket does not entitle holders to the free use of public transportation operated by MVG, MVV or DB." Budget for an MVV fare or a day pass on top, in tariff zone M.

It does not include the Automotive Conference, which is a separate ticket at a different order of magnitude (section 7).

Tickets are personalised, non-transferable and tied to a Messe München account. You may be asked for photo ID at the entrance, and multi-day tickets may only be used by one person. If you last used a Messe München account before April 2024, expect to re-register because of a system change.

There is also an optional PLUS TICKET: a voluntary EUR 5 gross surcharge on any ticket that funds climate projects. It buys you nothing extra at the show.

The two main free routes for ordinary visitors

1. An exhibitor voucher. This is the route most professional visitors should take, and it costs you nothing. If you have a supplier, a distributor or a prospect exhibiting, ask them for a voucher before you buy anything. Exhibitors are only charged when a redeemed ticket is actually used at the turnstile, so an unused voucher costs nobody anything and does not need cancelling.

On the exhibitor side, companies registered by the 30 November 2025 application deadline received an allocation of free voucher redemptions scaled to stand size: 25 up to 100 m², 50 from 101 to 400 m², and 100 from 401 m² upward. Redemptions beyond that allocation are charged at EUR 21 each. The organiser presents the allocation as tied to that registration deadline, so do not assume a late-registering exhibitor has the same block to hand out.

One limit worth knowing as a visitor: the number of vouchers any single person can redeem is capped at the number of days of the fair, and if you redeem several one-day vouchers yourself, all the resulting tickets will carry your name.

2. The free ticket for pupils, students, apprentices and trainees, valid only on Friday 13 November 2026 - the half day. Online ordering closes 5 November, and it can also be bought on site on the day itself.

It is worth being precise about who qualifies, because the ticket's own name understates it. In the shop it is listed as the "One-day ticket for pupils and students", but the organiser's Young Talents page states that free Friday admission covers high school students, college students and apprentices. Pupils and students upload a school, university or enrolment confirmation; apprentices and trainees provide current confirmation from their vocational school. The process is three steps: prepare your proof, order the "One-day ticket for pupils and students" in the ticket shop and upload the document, then wait for the organiser to confirm eligibility and issue the ticket. Leave time for that check rather than doing it the night before.

The free Friday is aligned with the Young Talents Days on 12 and 13 November, which are worth planning around if you qualify: a Makeathon run with ITQ across both days in Hall A5 (contact makeathon@itq.de, places first come first served), an Education Hub of interactive technology workshops for ages 13 and up on the Friday from 09:00 to 13:00 in the same hall, career counselling with SchuhEder in the Career Area every day in Hall C2, and a photo booth giving free professional CV photographs.

Two smaller free routes exist outside those. A disabled visitor's registered accompanying person is admitted free where the companion is noted in the ID, and can be registered on site. Accredited journalists are admitted through the press accreditation process rather than the ticket shop.

Separately, the reduced ticket at EUR 37 covers students, unemployed people, participants in German voluntary service schemes, pensioners, and disabled visitors with proof of disability.

4. The Floor: Hall-by-Hall Sector Map

Electronica fills all 18 halls at Messe München - 192,000 square metres. The layout is by product category rather than by industry, which matters: if you are sourcing for one application, you will walk several halls rather than camping in one.

Three things follow from that map:

Hall B4 is the densest hall for anyone in mobility. Sensors, MEMS, drive technology and automotive are all in it, and so are the startup platform and the sensor joint booth. If you have one hall's worth of time and you work in vehicles or industrial motion, it is B4.

The semiconductor and embedded block is the biggest single area and it spans B5 plus the whole C2 to C6 run. Semiconductors and embedded computing are not separated from each other, which reflects how the market actually buys.

Hall C2 is the crossover hall. It carries semiconductors, embedded computing, wireless and part of SEMICON Europa at once. If you are trying to cover the most ground per hour, that is where the categories overlap.

Note also that Hall A6 is split between EMS and PCBs on one side and passive components on the other, and that automotive, electronic design and EDA, embedded computing and services appear in some form in all halls - the organiser flags those four as cross-cutting rather than confined.

Special areas and joint booths, with stand numbers

Country pavilions and association joint booths run throughout the halls in addition to these.

5. What Is New for 2026: edge lab LIVE!

The headline addition this edition is edge lab LIVE! in Hall C5 - an exhibition area for edge computing built on a deliberately different model. Instead of conventional stands, exhibitors present working, integrated systems inside a single curated edge architecture, so visitors can see how open-source and open-standard technologies fit together rather than seeing each vendor's slice in isolation.

By the organiser's own numbers it carries over 30 exhibition stands, a large stage with over 35 curated sessions, 27 technology sessions and more than ten interactive workshops, with contributions from PICMG, SGeT, the Linux Foundation and the Edge AI Foundation. There is also an app-based scavenger hunt across the area, which is a lighter way of getting people to walk the whole thing.

The exhibition area runs 10-13 November, full days, while the edge lab LIVE! technical conference within it runs a three-day programme focused on bringing up, porting to and deploying applications on real hardware. Check the published timetable before building a specific day around a session you want.

The electronica Edge Awards sit inside this area and are judged on a 10-point scale across Edge AI (with sub-categories for physical AI, edge computing and development tools), CRA and security, embedded and open-source software and tools, open hardware standards, and edge networking and connectivity.

The audience it is built for is specific: embedded and IoT developers, application and edge engineers, system architects and engineering managers. If that is not you, C5 will be less useful than the raw session count suggests.

6. The Supporting Programme: 15 Forums, Awards and the CEO Roundtable

Electronica runs its talks inside the exhibition halls, in the relevant product area, rather than in a separate congress wing. That is a genuine advantage: you can drop into a session between stand meetings without crossing the site.

• CEO Roundtable - international chief executives on megatrends, transformation and the strategic outlook for the industry.
• Awards - competitive pitches and product awards, including the Edge Awards described above.
• Careers - the Career Area in Hall C2 runs free CV reviews and daily one-to-one consultations with career professionals, aimed at everyone from students to experienced managers. The electronics industry's skills shortage is the reason it exists, and it is unusually substantial for a components fair.
• Startups - beyond the Fast Forward platform in B4, startups get pitch slots, presentations and workshops in front of investors and buyers.
• All About Circuits Summit Series - a free four-day virtual summit run by EETech with electronica's support, for people who cannot travel.

Exhibitors book their forum speaking slots through the Exhibitor Shop, and that window closed in August 2026, so the 2026 speaker line-ups are already set.

7. The electronica Automotive Conference: A Separate, Much More Expensive Ticket

This is the single biggest budgeting trap around electronica, so it is worth being blunt about it.

The electronica Automotive Conference is a full-day conference on Monday 9 November 2026, at the ICM on the fairground, the day before the halls open. It has run since 2006 and, since 2021, it also runs in the years between electronica editions. Your fair ticket does not admit you.

These prices are quoted excluding 19% VAT, while visitor tickets are quoted including it. That is not a trivial difference. The EUR 790 early-bird single ticket is EUR 940.10 gross - more than eight times the price of a four-day fair ticket. Compare like with like before you present a number to anyone approving the spend.

The ticket includes conference catering and access to the presentations afterwards, subject to the speakers' approval, and a certificate of attendance is available on request. The early-bird rate expires on 14 October 2026, which for a 3 September reader is the one deadline worth putting in the calendar now.

The 2026 focus topics are electrification across all vehicle classes, new software-based E/E architectures, holistic hardware-software-toolchain development processes, automated driving and new vehicle concepts, and the geopolitics of the semiconductor supply between Europe, the USA and China. Confirmed participants for keynotes and the CTO roundtable include Airbus, Audi, Carizon, Holon, IMEC, Infineon and JoysonPreh, with technical presentations from Aumovio, Colab, Infineon, TVS Motors, Murata, Nexperia, NXP, STM, Vishay, Yanfeng and Yole. The programme committee is chaired by Peter Gresch of OptE GP Consulting and includes representatives from Audi, BMW, Bosch, Analog Devices, Nexperia, NXP, STMicroelectronics, TE Connectivity and Vishay.

8. SEMICON Europa, and What the Headline Numbers Actually Count

SEMICON Europa 2026 runs on exactly the same dates, in Halls B0, B1, C1 and C2, organised by SEMI Europe. It is the largest European trade fair for microelectronics manufacturing, covering fab management, advanced packaging, semiconductor manufacturing, materials, power electronics and the equipment supply chain, with an Executive Forum, an Advanced Packaging Conference and a Fab Management Forum among its programmes. SEMI reports that more than 75% of SEMICON Europa visitors are involved in purchasing decisions.

Your electronica ticket admits you. If you are anywhere near semiconductor manufacturing rather than just semiconductor buying, this is a large part of what you are paying for.

The figures nobody explains

Electronica's published 2024 results are impressive and widely quoted:

Here is the part that almost never travels with the numbers. The organiser's own footnote reads: "Information on floor space, countries, hall occupancy, exhibitor and visitor figures including SEMICON Europe."

In other words, the 80,203 visitors and 3,486 exhibitors are the combined electronica plus SEMICON Europa gate, not electronica alone. That is a defensible way to count, since one ticket covers both and the two shows share halls, but it means every "electronica draws 80,000 visitors" line you read - including on aggregator sites and, until this article, in our own show listing - is describing a co-located pair rather than a single fair.

SEMI separately markets SEMICON Europa as reaching over 8,000 visitors. Those people are inside the 80,203, not on top of it, because they walk through the same turnstiles on the same badge. Do not add the two figures together.

None of this makes electronica smaller than its reputation. It remains one of the world's largest electronics industry gatherings, although the published totals include SEMICON Europa. It just means that if you are comparing it against a fair that reports a single event's numbers, you are not comparing like with like.

The visitor survey behind these figures was run by Gelszus Messe-Marktforschung and ZB CS&D Market Intelligence on a weighted sample of 1,089 trade visitors. The most-visited exhibition areas in 2024 were semiconductors (44% of visitors), passive components (33%), embedded systems (31%), sensor technology (30%) and power supplies (29%).

9. Exhibiting at Electronica 2026

Electronica does something most large fairs refuse to do: it publishes a full stand rate card. If you have tried to budget for a show where every number arrives by quotation, this is a welcome change.

Net floor space fees

Those are for space only. Design, build, setup and dismantling are yours to arrange. Four mandatory charges land on top of every booking:

Worked example. A 20 m² row stand: EUR 5,980 space, plus EUR 1,150 communication fee, plus EUR 12 AUMA, plus EUR 400 services advance, plus EUR 160 disposal. That is EUR 7,702 net before you have built anything, and EUR 9,165.38 gross for anyone who cannot reclaim the VAT. Stand construction, furniture, staff, travel and accommodation all sit outside that figure.

The stand packages

If you do not want to run a build, seven packages include setup and dismantling. Ranking them by cost per square metre is more informative than the headline prices:

Against a self-build at the same size, the larger packages price well: the All-inclusive Package costs EUR 10,500 for 20 m² against EUR 7,702 for bare space plus mandatory fees, so you are paying roughly EUR 2,800 for a fully built, furnished, lit and cleaned stand with three exhibitor passes. Few exhibitors will beat that once they have paid a contractor and hired furniture. The New Exhibitors Package works out the same way and is restricted to companies exhibiting at electronica with their own stand space for the first time.

The rate rises sharply as stands get smaller. The compact package is EUR 1,250/m², more than double the All-inclusive rate, and what you are buying at that price is a 6 m² position at the high-traffic West Entrance. The CircularPlus Package is the one to look at if sustainability reporting matters: it is built on the reusable woodi by meplan system in spruce and steel, and includes three exhibitor passes and a catering voucher.

Where the 2026 cycle stands, and the deadlines that are still live

The 2026 exhibitor cycle opened in early August 2025 and closed to applications on 30 November 2025, with stand allocation beginning 1 December 2025, proposals going out from May 2026 and admission invoices from June 2026. The co-exhibitor registration deadline was 17 July 2026, and 31 July 2026 was the separate cut-off for inclusion in the printed exhibition directory. Forum speaking slots were booked through the Exhibitor Shop by August 2026, so the 2026 line-ups are set.

If you are not booked, the application deadline has passed and allocation began in December 2025. The application form remains open and applications are non-binding until you accept a stand proposal, but the organiser does not publish current stand availability. Contact the exhibition team at management@electronica.de before budgeting around a particular size or location.

For 2028, the event dates are confirmed as 14-17 November, but no exhibitor application dates have been published yet. If position matters, start monitoring the exhibitor page from August 2027 - the 2026 cycle opened in early August with a 30 November deadline, though the 2028 window is not yet confirmed.

Costs and conditions beyond the stand

• Co-exhibitor application fee: EUR 1,150, including the mandatory communications fee, invoiced to the main exhibitor. Co-exhibitors get the same advantages as main exhibitors and a separate directory listing. An additionally represented company is EUR 575 with a shorter entry.
• Extra visitor voucher redemptions beyond your allocation: EUR 21 each. Changing the invoice recipient after application: EUR 50.
• Cancellation after you confirm the stand proposal: 25% of the participation fee if Messe München can sublet the space, 100% if it cannot. Before you confirm, cancellation is free. Cancellations must go in writing to management@electronica.de.
• Your stand will not be guarded. Messe München does not provide stand security; book it through the Exhibitor Shop if you are leaving anything worth taking.
• Extra documentation is required if your stand or advertising exceeds 3 m in height, exceeds 100 m², has covered areas, or displays a vehicle (Form 1.2, preventive fire protection).
• Messe München will not accept deliveries on your behalf. During the fair, shipments go to the stand itself, addressed with "electronica", the exhibitor name, and the hall and stand number, at Am Messesee 2, 81829 München. 10. Getting to Messe München

The address is Am Messesee 2, 81829 Munich.

By U-Bahn. The fairground sits directly between two stations on the U2 line: Messestadt West and Messestadt Ost. West serves the ICM International Congress Center and Entrance West; Ost serves Entrance East. From Munich Hauptbahnhof it is about 20 minutes with no change. You need a ticket in tariff zone M from MVG, MVV or DB - and, as covered in section 3, your fair ticket does not cover it.

By S-Bahn and bus. Take S2 from the city centre or from Erding to Riem, change to bus 190 towards Messestadt Ost, and get off at Am Messesee for Entrance West or Messestadt Ost for Entrance East.

By air. Munich Airport is 42 km from the fairground. The S1 and S8 run from beneath the airport's central area every 10 minutes, taking 45 to 60 minutes to the city depending on the route. Messe München also runs its own non-stop shuttle for some fairs, roughly 45 minutes each way, from stops in front of Terminal 1 areas A and MAC and outside Terminal 2. Check whether the shuttle is running for electronica before relying on it. Lufthansa Group airlines offer event fares through a dedicated booking platform, which requires pop-ups to be enabled to work.

By train. Deutsche Bahn runs event fares for electronica and SEMICON Europa participants, from EUR 16.19 one way, bookable up to 12 months ahead and combinable with BahnCard discounts.

By car. Messe München sits directly beside the A94, with signage and a dynamic traffic control system directing you to available parking. Parking is paid; the fee schedule is published as a PDF. There are more than 80 e-charging points plus one supercharger on site. Charging itself is generally free, though you still pay for parking, and access needs an RFID chip - the kind embedded in many hotel cards, time-logging cards and bank cards. Charging points cannot be reserved.

On site. Free WiFi is available throughout the halls, though the organiser recommends exhibitors order a wired LAN connection rather than rely on it. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas. Animals are not allowed on the grounds except guide and assistance dogs. E-scooters, skateboards and similar are prohibited during the event, and using one can get you removed. Photography and filming require advance authorisation from Messe München.

Accommodation. Munich in mid-November is not Oktoberfest, but electronica plus SEMICON Europa is a large simultaneous arrival into one city, and rooms near the U2 line go first. Anywhere on the U2 is genuinely convenient given the 20-minute run from Hauptbahnhof; a cheaper room two U-Bahn stops further out costs you very little in time.

11. The electronica Network

Munich is the flagship, but the brand runs regional editions between the biennial German ones:

If your sourcing is Asia-weighted, the India and China editions are the shorter-lead options, and productronica - the production technology counterpart - runs on the alternate-year Munich cycle. Which halls are the Electronica sectors in?

EMS, PCBs and circuit carriers are in Halls A1, A2, A6 and the West Entrance. Electromechanics and system peripherals are in A3, B2 and B3. Test and measurement is in A4 and power supplies in A5. Passive components are in A6 and B6, with displays in B6. Hall B4 holds sensor and driving technology, microsystems and MEMS, and automotive. Semiconductors and embedded computing share B5 and C2 to C6, and wireless is in C2. SEMICON Europa occupies B0, B1, C1 and C2, and the conferences run at the ICM.

Is my Electronica ticket valid for SEMICON Europa?

Yes. Tickets for electronica are also valid for SEMICON Europa, which runs on the same dates in Halls B0, B1, C1 and C2 and keeps identical opening hours. You do not need to buy a second ticket.

Does my Electronica ticket include public transport in Munich?

No. Messe München states that the Print@home ticket does not entitle holders to free use of MVG, MVV or DB public transport. You need a separate tariff zone M ticket or day pass. This differs from several other German trade fairs, so budget for it.

Can I leave Electronica and come back the same day?

The 2024 edition recorded 3,486 exhibitors from 58 countries and 80,203 visitors from 113 countries across 192,000 m² in 18 halls. Important caveat: the organiser's own footnote confirms those floor space, exhibitor and visitor figures include SEMICON Europa, which runs in the same halls on the same ticket. They describe the co-located pair, not electronica on its own, and SEMI's separately quoted 8,000-plus SEMICON Europa visitors are inside that 80,203 rather than in addition to it.

Is the electronica Automotive Conference included in my fair ticket?

No. It is a separate paid event on Monday 9 November 2026 at the ICM. Single tickets are EUR 790 at the early-bird rate until 14 October 2026, then EUR 890, and EUR 940 on site. Groups of three or more pay EUR 632, EUR 712 and EUR 752 per person on the same schedule. These prices exclude 19% VAT, unlike visitor tickets, so the EUR 790 early-bird ticket is EUR 940.10 gross. Student tickets are free with proof of eligibility and are limited in number.

Can I still book a stand at Electronica 2026?

The application deadline was 30 November 2025 and allocation began on 1 December 2025. The application form remains open and applications are non-binding until you accept a stand proposal, but the organiser does not publish current stand availability. Contact the exhibition team at management@electronica.de before budgeting around a particular size or location. For 2028, the event dates are confirmed as 14-17 November but no exhibitor application dates have been published; if position matters, start monitoring the exhibitor page from August 2027, since the 2026 cycle opened in early August with a 30 November deadline.

What does it cost to exhibit at Electronica 2026?

Stand space is EUR 299/m² for a row stand, EUR 339/m² for a corner, EUR 349/m² for an end stand and EUR 359/m² for an island, all net of 19% VAT and covering space only. Four mandatory charges apply on top: a EUR 1,150 flat communication fee, EUR 0.60/m² AUMA levy, EUR 20/m² advance payment for services and EUR 8/m² disposal fee. A 20 m² row stand therefore costs EUR 7,702 net before any construction. Fully built packages with setup and dismantling included run from EUR 7,500 for 6 m² to EUR 12,900 for 18 m².

How do I get to Messe München from central Munich?

Take the U2 line to Messestadt West for the ICM and Entrance West, or Messestadt Ost for Entrance East. It is about 20 minutes from Munich Hauptbahnhof with no change, and you need a tariff zone M ticket from MVG, MVV or DB, which your fair ticket does not cover. From Munich Airport, 42 km away, take the S1 or S8 towards the city, or use the Messe München airport shuttle when it is running for the event, which takes about 45 minutes non-stop.
