Quick Answer: When is Web Summit 2026 and what is it? Web Summit 2026 runs Monday 9 to Thursday 12 November 2026 at the MEO Arena and the neighboring FIL halls in Lisbon's Parque das Nações district. It is a technology conference with a startup exhibition attached, not a conventional trade fair: the floor is filled mostly by early-stage companies on one-day stands, while the program runs 17 content tracks across Centre Stage and the numbered stages. Monday is Opening Night (18:00-20:00 on Centre Stage, followed by Late Night Summit at Time Out Market); the full conference days are Tuesday to Thursday. Tickets are paid, with the general attendee ticket at €995 including tax as of 21 September 2026, down from a €1,595 list price. The 2025 edition drew 71,386 attendees from 157 countries, 2,725 exhibiting startups from 108 countries, 1,857 investors and 869 speakers.

If you searched "Web Summit 2026," you are probably one of three people: a founder working out whether a one-day booth and three tickets are worth the money, an attendee trying to understand why the ticket costs what it costs and what you actually get for it, or someone who has been told Web Summit is "the biggest tech event in Europe" and wants to know what that means in practice on a show floor.

This guide covers all three. It walks through the four-day shape of the event, what each ticket type costs and includes, how the startup exhibiting tiers work, the 2026 content program, where to collect your badge, venue rules, and how to get to Parque das Nações. For the structured event listing, see our Web Summit 2026 show page.

1. What Web Summit Actually Is

Web Summit started in 2009 as a small gathering in Dublin, organized by Paddy Cosgrave. It moved to Lisbon in 2016 and grew fast: 4,200 attendees in 2012, 53,056 in 2016, and roughly 70,000 a year since 2018.

In 2018 the company signed a ten-year agreement with the Portuguese government worth around €110 million that keeps the event in Lisbon through 2028, with a commitment to expand the venue. More than 20 European cities had bid for it, including Berlin, Paris, London and Madrid. So the 2026 edition is not a question mark: Lisbon has two more editions under contract after this one.

The format is the thing to understand before you buy. Web Summit is a conference first and an exhibition second, and the exhibition is not built the way a trade fair is:

  • Most exhibiting companies are startups on a one-day stand, not vendors with a four-day booth. The floor turns over.
  • There is no persistent exhibitor directory in the trade-fair sense that you can plan a route around weeks out. Discovery happens in the app.
  • The draw for a lot of attendees is the investor density and the meetings program, not the products on the floor.

That makes it a different proposition from something like electronica 2026, which runs in Munich on almost exactly the same dates and is a pure components trade fair with a fixed hall plan. If you are choosing between them, you are choosing between sourcing and dealmaking, not between two versions of the same thing.

One naming note that trips people up: the main venue is the MEO Arena. It was called the Altice Arena from 2017 until February 2024, and older listings, hotel pages and third-party event sites still use that name. It is the same building.

2. Dates, Hours & the Four-Day Shape

Web Summit 2026 runs 9-12 November. The four days are not four equal days:

DayDateWhat happens
Day 1Monday 9 NovemberOpening Night on Centre Stage, 18:00-20:00. Late Night Summit at Time Out Market, 20:00-00:00
Day 2Tuesday 10 NovemberFirst full conference day. Talks from around 09:50 on Centre Stage
Day 3Wednesday 11 NovemberFull conference day. Night Summit in the evening
Day 4Thursday 12 NovemberFinal conference day. No Night Summit listed for Thursday

Night Summit runs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, at different venues across the city. Web Summit says exact times will be published closer to the event. Your event accreditation gets you in, and the organizer's line is that "all are welcome," so you can bring someone who is not attending the daytime program.

Plan around three conference days, not four. Startup exhibiting packages are described as giving access to "all three days of the conference," which is the Tuesday-to-Thursday block. If you are flying in for the content and the floor rather than Opening Night, Monday is a travel and registration day.

The 2026 schedule went live in stages. As of 21 September 2026 the first 70 talks were published, with Web Summit adding more every week, so the full program is not yet set. Worth re-checking a few weeks out if specific speakers are the reason you are going.

3. Tickets: What They Cost and What You Get

Prices move. Everything below was checked on the official ticket pages on 21 September 2026, and Portugal's 23% VAT explains the two numbers Web Summit shows against each ticket: the larger figure is what you pay, the "excl. sales tax" figure is the same price with VAT stripped out. It is not a second, cheaper option.

TicketPrice (incl. tax)Excl. taxNotes
General attendee€995€809Down from a €1,595 list price. Marked "limited stock"
VIP€1,950€1,585Adds evening receptions, meeting spaces, catered food and drink, floor lounges, VIP Lounge, priority registration
Chairperson€24,950€20,285Adds fast-tracked entrance and Speaker Lounge access
InvestorFree on acceptance-Application with credential verification
Platinum Investor€1,950€1,585Bookable directly, no application

The general attendee ticket covers more than the floor. It includes all 17 content tracks, expert-led masterclasses, curated meetup invitations, Night Summit on all three nights, a downloadable contacts file, the schedule builder, the searchable attendee list, the jobs board and partner perks. Masterclasses are 45 minutes, spaces are limited, and they are allocated first come, first served.

Group rates start at five tickets and are calculated off the current €995 price:

Group sizePrice each (incl. tax)Excl. taxSaving
5-9 tickets€895€72810%
10-14 tickets€846€68815%
15-19 tickets€796€64720%

Groups of 5 or more go through an enquiry form rather than a checkout, and Web Summit offers bespoke packages above 19.

Women in tech tickets are a separate, discounted release and the program is open only to people who identify as women, under Part C of Web Summit's terms. The benefits match the general attendee ticket plus a women's meetup space. The initial 2026 release has sold out; Web Summit's site says a final sale is coming on 24 September, announced to its women in tech newsletter list. (The site calls that date a Friday, but 24 September 2026 is a Thursday, so watch for the email rather than the day name.)

Losing your badge is expensive. You get a lanyard and a wristband, and you need both. Replacing one costs €100. Lose both and you have to repurchase a ticket at the current list price, which Web Summit's own support page puts at €1,595.

4. The 2026 Program: 17 Tracks

Web Summit splits its content into 17 tracks across four days. Several carry their own sub-brand and behave like small conferences inside the main one:

  • Venture Summit - the next era of venture capital, with a stated shift away from broad AI hype toward vertical tech
  • MoneyConf - crypto, digital payments, tokenization and the rules of finance
  • Marketing Summit - search no longer sending traffic to websites, AI answer engines, and GEO as a discipline marketers cannot skip
  • Policy Summit - technology regulation and the geopolitical questions around it
  • New Media Summit - the algorithm as the thing that now shapes culture

The rest span AI's trajectory toward superintelligence, e-commerce and agentic shopping, creativity in an era of infinite generation, the cybersecurity arms race, the future of work, corporate innovation, developers shifting from writing code to orchestrating agents, capital-efficient scaling, energy infrastructure, SaaS after its reckoning, health, and sport.

Speakers confirmed for 2026 include Richard Socher (Recursive and You.com), Matthew Prince (Cloudflare), Mike Cannon-Brookes (Atlassian), Michele Catasta (Replit), Henna Virkkunen (European Commission), Danielle Perszyk (Amazon), Zanny Minton Beddoes (The Economist), Markus Villig (Bolt), Tao Zhang (Manus AI), Philippe Botteri (Accel) and Maria Sharapova, alongside names from Tencent, Xpeng, Felicis Ventures and the Atlassian Williams F1 team. The speaker directory is filterable by country and by 29 industries, and it is still growing.

For context on what actually lands at a show like this, our recaps of Databricks Data + AI Summit 2026 and MWC Shanghai 2026 are useful comparison points for how AI content has been landing on tech stages this year.

5. Exhibiting at Web Summit: The Startup Program

This is the part most exhibitor guides get wrong about Web Summit. You do not book a booth. You apply to the startup program, Web Summit assesses you, and if you are accepted you are placed in one of three tiers.

The three tiers:

TierWho it is for
ALPHAPre-investment stage, or under $1 million raised
BETAHas launched successfully, often a Web Summit alum
GROWTHConsiderable growth and expanding globally, often more than $3 million raised

What acceptance gets you. Web Summit's current description of the package covers three tickets with full access to the content, one day of exhibition space, eligibility to apply for PITCH, a place in Startup Showcase, a company profile on the website and in the app, three days of Startup Lounge access, networking features in the app, and a dedicated startup success manager. Inclusions differ between tiers, so confirm ticket counts and stand specifics with the startup team rather than assuming the ALPHA package applies to all three.

How selection works. Web Summit scores applicants out of 100 across four dimensions: growth potential (market competition, sector trajectory, geographic scope), impact (relevance to attendees, industry fit, how you plan to engage), product and team (development stage, users, expertise), and pitch quality. In 2025, more than 22,000 startups applied and roughly 2,700 were selected for Lisbon, so acceptance is genuinely competitive rather than a formality.

The activations are where the value sits, not the stand. A one-day booth is a small thing. What surrounds it:

  • PITCH - the startup competition. 105 startups are selected to pitch live
  • Startup Showcase - a platform for putting your idea in front of attendees, investors and international media
  • 40 Words - a short-form slot where founders introduce the company or their next move in exactly 40 words
  • Mentor Hours - pre-scheduled 45-minute group sessions with senior attendees
  • Investor to startup meetings - pre-scheduled 15-minute meetings
  • Startup Masterclasses - sessions from investors, accelerators and operators on pitch decks, PR and corporate innovation

For startups, the investor access may be the strongest argument for going. 2025 brought 1,857 investors from 86 countries, up 74% on the 1,066 who came in 2024, and the largest investor turnout in the event's history. Separately, a Web Summit and Crunchbase analysis found that nearly 200 startups from the 2024 startup program raised funding afterwards, totalling $715.5 million. That is a post-hoc figure about one cohort, not a promise, but it is the most concrete outcome number Web Summit publishes.

Applications for 2026 are still open through the startup pages on the official site, and they run through a conversation with Web Summit's startup team rather than a self-serve checkout. With the event seven weeks out at the time of writing, this is late but not closed.

6. Exhibiting as a Partner

If you are not a startup, the route in is partnership, not an exhibitor stand. Web Summit does not publish partner pricing. The partners page routes you to a specialist team through a work-email form and a downloadable overview.

Confirmed 2026 partners already include Intel, IBM, TikTok, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Atlassian, Datadog and Twilio, alongside Akamai, Elastic, Criteo, Replit, Hisense, Optimizely, PitchBook and Statista. The published directory runs to ten pages, so this is a partner roster in the hundreds rather than a handful of headline sponsors.

Web Summit publishes partner case studies that are worth reading before the call, because they show what partners say they used the event for: Replit on building brand and mindshare in Europe, LinkedIn on engaging decision-makers directly, Revolut on the event's role in its growth, and IBM on more than five years of participation.

With the event only weeks away, contact the partnerships team immediately if you are considering 2026. Otherwise, the conversation may be more useful for planning 2027.

7. Registration, Venue Rules & What to Bring

You can register at the airport. Web Summit runs two accreditation points:

  • Terminal 1, Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Portela), Alameda das Comunidades Portuguesas
  • Pavilhão de Portugal, Alameda dos Oceanos, Parque das Nações, right next to the venue

Registering at the airport on arrival is the better move if your flight lands at a sensible hour: you collect your lanyard and wristband before you have touched public transport, and the airport is on the same metro line as the venue. Exact opening times were not published as of 21 September.

Bring your ticket and photo ID. Your ticket lives in the Web Summit mobile app, which is available for iOS and Android. There are separate registration queues by ticket type: general attendee, women in tech, partner, investor, executive, VIP, media, and ALPHA, BETA and GROWTH.

Wear both items every day. The lanyard and the wristband are both required for entry, and Web Summit recommends wearing them to Night Summit too.

Venue rules worth knowing before you pack:

  • This is an over-18 event. Minors may be permitted under Web Summit's terms; contact info@websummit.com in advance
  • Leave the bag. Web Summit asks attendees not to bring bags at all. Only small bags are allowed inside, nothing bigger than a laptop bag, handbag or backpack. There is a bag check at main registration
  • Catering is entirely cashless. Bring a card. Food trucks and vendors are spread through the venue, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, and you are allowed to bring your own food
  • Wifi is free across the MEO Arena, and Web Summit asks you not to run personal hotspots because they interfere with the network
  • Filming is restricted. Stands, show floor and open outdoor areas are fine. Stages, backstage, lounges, workshop areas and meeting rooms are not. If you plan to film, Web Summit wants a full itinerary in advance
  • Opening Night has extra camera rules: no professional audio or video recording gear, and no professional cameras with detachable lenses
  • Lost and found is at the Info Point in Pavilion 1

8. Getting to the MEO Arena and Around Lisbon

The venue address is MEO Arena and FIL, Rossio dos Olivais, 1990-231 Lisbon, in Parque das Nações on the eastern waterfront.

By metro (best option). Oriente station is roughly 300 meters from the MEO Arena and 600 meters from registration at the Pavilhão de Portugal. Oriente is on the red line, which also serves the airport, so an arriving attendee can register at Terminal 1 and ride straight through.

From central Lisbon there are two routes:

  • Green line from Baixa-Chiado to Alameda, then red line to Oriente
  • Blue line from Baixa-Chiado to São Sebastião, then red line to Oriente

By bus. Carris lines 705, 725, 728, 750, 759 and 794 serve the Gare do Oriente transport hub, a short walk from the venue, connecting to Cais do Sodré, Restauradores and Campo Grande.

By taxi or ride-hailing. City taxis, Uber and Bolt all work, and there are dedicated drop-off and collection points at the venue on every event day.

Accommodation. Web Summit has an official hotel partner, b-network, with individual and group rates around the event dates. Lisbon fills up for Web Summit week, so this is not a booking to leave late.

Weather and what to wear. Lisbon in November typically runs 12 to 18°C, with rain a real possibility. A lot of Web Summit venues are outdoors, including many Night Summit locations, and Web Summit's own line is that events go ahead "in hail, rain or sunshine." Bring a waterproof layer and shoes you can stand in for three days.

One safety note from the organizer: pickpockets operate around Lisbon and especially on public transport. Keep your things with you. The emergency number in Portugal is 112.

9. Planning Notes and Clashes

Web Summit collides with electronica. electronica 2026 runs 10-13 November at Messe München, overlapping Web Summit's three conference days almost exactly. If your company covers both the component supply chain and the startup and investor world, you are splitting a team, not choosing a day. Our H2 2026 preview maps the rest of the half if you are still building a Q4 schedule.

If Lisbon does not fit, there are other Web Summits. The company runs the same format on three other continents:

EventDatesLocation
Web Summit Qatar31 January - 3 February 2027Doha Exhibition and Convention Center
Web Summit Vancouver25-28 May 2027Vancouver Convention Centre
Web Summit Rio14-17 June 2027Rio de Janeiro

Web Summit Vancouver is the former Collision, which ran in Toronto from 2019 to 2024 before moving west and rebranding in 2025.

A note on the numbers you will see quoted. Third-party sites are already publishing 2026 projections such as "900+ speakers" and "20+ tracks." Web Summit's own tracks page lists 17, and the only fully verified attendance and exhibitor numbers are the 2025 actuals used throughout this guide. Treat the projections as marketing until the post-event release lands.
